Description :
The Self-employment assistance program is run by the Centre local de développement (CLD) [local development centre] and financed by Emploi-Québec, the Québec ministry of employment. It offers guidance, technical and financial assistance to individuals wanting to create or run an existing business and become self-employed.
The program is aimed at recipients of Canada Employment Insurance and Social Security benefits who want to start up their own business.
Admission criteria :
- The business must be located in an area covered by the MontLaurier office of EmploiQuébec ;
- Participants must work full time on the business and operate on an annual basis ;
- Participants must be the principal owner (s) of the business ;
- Participants must demonstrate the viability of the business.
Selection process :
A committee made up of five people from the business community, financial institutions, the Centre local d'emploi (CLE) [local employment centre] and the Centre local de développement (CLD) [local development centre] reviews applications and selects successful candidates.
Type of assistance provided :
Financial assistance is provided through subsidized salaries.
